Director Phillip Noyce is negotiating to helm Edwin A. Salt according to Variety.
Kurt Wimmer's story casts Tom Cruise as a CIA officer who's accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. He must elude capture long enough to clear his name.
Both Noyce and Cruise had previously been set to work together on the drama "28th Amendment". Both Terry George and Peter Berg passed on calling action on 'Salt'
Having helmed 2 Jack Ryan films Noyce is well suited for Salt
