Jeremy Garelick is set to rewrite and direct a comedy feature film based on the syndicated TV series phenomenon Baywatch says Variety.A film based the series has been planned for years using an action heavy script by David Ronn and Jay Scherick.
Garelick, whose uncredited rewrite work on the summer hit The Hangover is said to be responsible for many of the film's biggest yuks, saw the chance to turn the project into a comedy in the vein of 80's classics Stripes and Police Academy.
The script now focuses on two unlikely lifeguard candidates trying to catch on.
Don't worry the buff bodies that were very abundant in the the TV series will be in the film as well.
If there were one series ripe for a comedic reinvention it's Baywatch.
The project will be Garelick's directorial debut.
