The love story is based on the book by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer--the action is set in London and the Channel Islands after World War II and follows a magazine columnist (Winslet) who enters into a correspondence with a man from Guernsey. She soon learns how the islanders used a book group during the war to outwit their German occupiers. So captivated by their stories, she travels there herself.
Don Roos adapted the script.
Mitchell Kaplan and Paula Mazur will produce.
Filming kicks off in March.
