Bruckheimer On Choosing A Director For "Pirates 5"

Making the promo push for "The Lone Ranger"--out July 3rd producer Jerry Bruckheimer talked about the decision to hire "Kon-Tiki" duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg to helm "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5.

The duo will prep the movie for a late 2013 or early January start. Jeff Nathanson (Men in Black 3) recently polished the script for Disney. Franchise star Johnny Depp will return as the nefarious do gooder Jack Sparrow.

Chatting with The Playlist, Bruckheimer said that the pair arrived in Los Angeles last Friday and started working on it.

He said: "We saw their movie early on, maybe six months ago, and I saw some of their other work, which I thought was terrific. That convinced me. They were interested in doing it and they flew over and we showed them a script that we were working on and they had really amazing ideas."

Bruckheimer also confirmed that the next film will retain the "adventure and supernatural" hybrid tone, and that part of the film will be set in New Orleans.

He adds: "We're certainly going to be filming in Louisiana because of the tax breaks and I think there might be a sequence there. But it will also be set in the Caribbean, obviously."
