Ryan Reynolds Leaves "Highlander" Redux

Ryan Reynolds has reportedly dropped out of starring in the long gestating remake of the cult classic Highlander says The Wrap.

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo left at the end of 2012 after more than a year of work on the project.  Justin Lin was originally due to direct the remake

In "Highlander", after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize

"Iron Man" scribes, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway penned the script which goes back to the original film franchise roots. Melissa Rosenberg reportedly gave the script a polish-- with the latest draft by Noah Oppenheim.

Neal Moritz and Peter Davis are producing the update.
