WB Wants To Make "Encyclopedia Brown" Film

Warner Bros is making final moves to acquire the film rights to the late author Donald J. Sobol's iconic kids book book series "Encyclopedia Brown" says Heat Vision.

The stories center on Leroy Brown, a local police chief's son who runs his own detective agency out of the family’s garage.  Brown and his friend and "bodyguard" Sally Kimball solve petty crimes, usually committed by local bully Bugs Meany.

Sobol wrote the books over a five decade period.

 Roy Lee and Howard David Deutsch will produce the film adaptation.
