Gadon Linked As Spidey's New MJ

A few days ago we learned that Shailene Woodley's scenes as Mary Jane Watson, the perennial red-headed love interest of Pater Parker in the Spidey comics had been cut from Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".

The role was previously played by Kirsten Dunst in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy.

Reports surfaced quickly that not only had her scenes been cut, but the role was going to be recast for the future films due to Woodley's "Divergent" commitments.

Then came word yesterday via ET Canada that actress Sarah Gadon ("Cosmopolis," "A Dangerous Method") is confirmed to be "joining The Amazing Spider-Man franchise" in an unspecified role.

Fans have now already named her the new Mary Jane, but Sony Pictures hasn't commented yet.

Spidey 2 is now in production to meet its May 2nd 2014 release date.

Both The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 already have release dates.
