Those hoping that Christopher Nolan could be talked into doing another bat-film following the release next month of "The Dark Knight Rises"...Don't hold your breath.
Nolan was asked point blank at the Produced By Conference - 2012 (via Indiewire) last week if he would do another Batman film, Nolan said:
"No. Mainly, because I’m superstitious, but I said to my brother [and sometimes-writing-partner Jonathan Nolan] that I didn’t want to save anything. We’re never on a specific trajectory, but I always viewed Bruce Wayne’s story in three parts. I didn’t want to hold anything back. I think you learn so much from the audience. You don’t know what you’ve made until you’ve put it out there.”
Christian Bale, Tom Hardy Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Marion Cotillard Josh Pence, Alon Aboutboul and Nestor Carbonell star along with a return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Morgan Freeman Gary Oldman and Michael Caine Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson might also be making cameos.
Matthew Modine Tom Conti Joey King Daniel Sunjata Diego Klattenhoff Christopher Judge "CSI: Miami" co-star Adam Rodriguez and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles. Rob Brown and Italian actor Massi Furlan have small roles in the film as well
Nolan called action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer that features Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway) plotting to take down Batman (Bale).
The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012
If not Bats what's next for Nolan?
Last week he said that he's abandoned his plans for a Howard Hughes biopic but would be keen on perhaps taking aim at the long-running James Bond film franchise.
But he told Empire that "it would have to be the right situation and the right time in their cycle of things"
The speculation is that the earliest opportunity that Nolan would take on Bond could be when current 007 Daniel Craig eventually vacates the role.
Nolan + Bond! How COOL would THAT be!!?
