Catherine Keener has joined the cast of "Once" writer/director John Carney's new musical romance pic "Can a Song Save Your Life?" says THR.
The film follows a woman (Keira Knightley) who moves with her boyfriend (Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine) to New York to pursue music careers. After he dumps her for a solo contract, she is discovered singing at a local bar by a down-on-his-luck record producer (Mark Ruffalo).
Keener will portray a successful music writer and Ruffalo’s estranged wife.
"True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld will play Ruffalo's daughter. James Corden plays the best friend of Knightley’s character.
Anthony Bregman, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East will produce while Judd Apatow will executive produce the film.
Production starts next month in NYC
