Hob-Knobing

The film version of The Hobbit officially gets its helmer...
Guillermo del Toro (pictured) has now been announced as having signed on to direct the two films in which the story will unfold.

The British newspaper The Guardian says, the announcement was made at the French premiere of the del Toro-produced thriller The Orphanage

"Today is a big day because we are announcing what everyone wanted to hear, which is that he will be directing The Hobbit," the host who introduced del Toro told the crowd.

Peter Jackson who directed The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, is on board to executive produce The Hobbit films. The screenplay won't be completed, until the writers' strike ends.

Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth is a true feast for the senses--He makes a fine choice to carry on the Rings vision begun by Jackson.
