Scrooed

Variety reports that author Charles Dickens timeless holiday classic Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is being readied for the big screen...In the umpteenth adaptation...

Kelsey Grammer (pictured) will play the title character in the satire An American Carol, helmed by David Zucker (Airplane! Scary Movie 4).

The actor will play a modern-day version Scrooge, a character he knows quite well--having previously portrayed him in the 2004 TV version of the beloved tale.

Production is scheduled to start Feb. 28. Grammer will work on the project while simultaneously working on his current sitcom Back To You. This summer, he will be busy with Swing Vote--hitting theaters on August 1st.

I have been a fan of Grammer's since his days on "Cheers". He did a great job playing Scrooge dramatically. I have no doubt Grammer taking the role into comedic territory will be a lot of fun.
