Ship Of The Line

With the May 8th 2009 release of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot fast approaching the publicity machine is (finally) moving at warp speed

With that--Entertainment Weekly has published the first photo of the new look for the Starship Enterprise.

The goal was to take the designs of the original TV series and the movies and fuse them together in a design that could "stand up to today's visual effects standards".

The result is a ship that looks much like the movie version but with a more textured surface, smoother curves, a more compact engineering section, and nacelles that seem like more hi-tech versions of the 60's incarnation:



Can anyone else hear the Trek theme composed by Alexander Courage--When they look at the pic?
