Oscar winner Mary Streep will star in the fact-based film based on Vicki Myron's novel "Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World," Streep will play the author who works at a library in Iowa, says Variety.
The title refers to a kitten, who wandered in through an after-hours book return slot on a cold winter night, is rescued by Myron's co-workers and becomes the library's mascot.
The patrons and staffers are charmed and, over the course of a long life, the animal gains an international fan following.
Pamela Gray is going to adapt the script.
Sounds very much like another true to life inspiring animal tale--coming to theaters on X-Mas Day--Marley and Me
