Phil Alden Robinson ("Sneakers," "Field of Dreams") will write the Untitled heist thriller that J.J. Abrams is developing says The Hollywood Reporter. Based on Joshua Davis' Wired Magazine article "The Untold Story of the World's Biggest Diamond Heist",it's the true story will deal with the small group of Italian thieves who got around ten layers of security to access a vault beneath the Antwerp Diamond Center in Belgium.
The gang made off diamonds, gold and jewelry said to be in excess of $100 million.
Davis scored multiple interviews with those involved over a six-year span.
Sneakers is a very underrated spy pic and his work on Field is masterful--making him a perfect fit.
