McKay said that the "Anchorman" sequel was planned as a Broadway musical that would've run for four months and then have jumped right into filming.
However the film is now dead and "we've moved on". They tried just to do the Broadway run on its own, but "it's too hard on the actors. And there's no money for them."
Finally McKay says he hopes to get "Step Brothers" co-stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly back for Step 2
