Ranger Ryan?

Ryan Gosling is in talks to take on the lead role in the new big screen version of "The Lone Ranger, reports The Wrap.

The hero's origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto (Johnny Depp), who nurses him back to health.

The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.

The character began as a 1930s radio show before becoming a star is several movie serials, TV shows, comic strips comic books, toys, novels and more.

Depp, director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer  will reunite after having made the first 3 Pirates of the Caribbean pics together

Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) wrote the script.

Gosling's involvement here will depend on his schedule and commitment to the Nicolas Winding Refn -directed "Logan's Run" remake this Fall.

Gosling would make a very cool fit here--But I'm torn because I also want Run to work out as well
