Crowe Wants To Helm 77

Actor Russell Crowe may be starring in and making his feature film directorial debut in 77 according to Deadline New York

The pic intersects two real life stories from 1974-- the unsolved murder of an LAPD officer, and "the nationally televised shootout in South Central L.A. between the Symbionese_Liberation_Army and the cops, where 50,000 rounds of gunfire were exchanged"

David Matthews wrote the screenplay from a story by James Ellroy. Dick Wolf and Tony Ganz are producing the film

This project seems like the perfect fit for Crowe to start his career as a director--But it is not the only featurev film that he's wanted to call action on....

Crowe was attached at one point to call action on Bra Boys, the dramatic adaptation of the documentary about outlaw surfers in Australia, and before that he thought about directing the Australia based /World_War_II drama The Long Green Shore, based on the book by John Hepworth.

He directed the docu Texas
