Benjamin Walker is in talks to play the archangel Michael in the mythological fantasy epic in Paradise Lost says Deadline.
The film takes John Milton's classic 17th century poem "Paradise Lost" story and deals with Lucifer's fall from grace, his temptation of Adam and Eve, and the first couple's subsequent banishment from the Garden of Eden.
This adaptation reimagines it with a family friendly, action-oriented slant might be shot in 3D.
This film follows the fallen angel Lucifer (Bradley Cooper) who, after being cast out of Heaven, mounts an army that battles the forces of good. Michael is Lucifer's brother and the leader of said good forces.
Alex Proyas is directing the pic. and calls the film a "family saga, about a group of brothers, two in particular, who are on divergent paths, and Lucifer's feelings of betrayal by his father and family that forge his descent into evil."
The script has passed through the hands of several writers, including Stuart Hazeldine, Byron Willinger, Philip de Blasi, Lawrence Kasdan and Ryan Condal
Thomas Tull Vincent Newman and Jon Jashni are producing.
Walker just wrapped work on next year's actioner Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Shooting on 'Paradise' kicks off in January in Sydney ahead of a late 2013 release
