Based on author Lee Child's Jack Reacher books the story centers on a military policeman-turned-drifter-(Tom Cruise)-In this particular story Reacher investigates a murder that seems like a slam-dunk but turns out to be more complicated than he could have imagined.
The female role is that of a tough lawyer and daughter of the discrict attorney. Pike beat out both Alexa Davalos and Hayley Atwell for the coveted role
The 15 Reacher novels have sold more than 40 million copies.
Christopher McQuarrie wrote the adapted screenplay and will direct the movie. He of course worked with Tom on Valkyrie.
David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Gary Levinsohn and Paula Wagner will produce the pic.
I was rooting for Atwell but Pike is a fine choice
Filming is due to begin in Pittsburgh this fall
