Matthew McConaughey has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike, says Variety.
The story is inspired by Channing Tatum’s pre-Hollywood days as a male dancer--The biopic follows a newcomer to the world of exotic dancing (Alex Pettyfer) who is tempted by an older woman (Demi Moore) as well as bond with a mentor to the younger stripper--The titular Magic Mike (Tatum)
McConaughey will play Dallas, a former stripper who now owns the Xquisite club where Mike works.
Reid Carolin pens the screenplay. The idea of Magic Mike came about when Soderbergh and Tatum were working together on the espionage drama Haywire.
Tatum, Nick Wechsler, Gregory Jacobs and Carolin will produce the pic.
No production date has yet been set yet. It was to have started this month but Tutum is busy filming G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation
