Lin Dumps Highlander For T-5 & Fast Six

Director Justin Lin has opted of calling the shots on the upcoming remake of the cult classic Highlander says the Heat Vision Blog. Lin will stay on the pic as its Excutive Producer though.

Commitments to The Fast and the Furious 6 and Terminator 5 factored into the dcision, Lin told The Playlist in fact that he’s already had an informal meetings with both James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger about T-5:

Just even this week, I had a great meeting with Arnold and James Cameron, just sitting down unofficially. And James is so gracious because he’s not part of the project, he’s not going to be producing, but it was great of him just as a filmmaker to take time out to just talk.”

Fast Six will be his next film: In fact he told Box Office Magazine "I already have a 12-minute sequence done. I did it just as an exercise. I had it done before we were finished with Fast Five, actually. So I wanted to do that just to have it there and to be honest with you, I didn't know if I was going to do a Fast Six. I didn't know if people were going to embrace Fast Five and we were going to have an opportunity. But I felt like I really wanted to make sure that the last scene...I wanted to make sure that was done".

In "Highlander", after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize.

"Iron Man" scribes, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway turned in a draft of the script--As did the writing team of Cormac and Marianne Wibberley---And most recently Twilight Saga film series scribe Melissa Rosenberg

Neal H. Moritz was also set to produce
