The success of Joss Whedon's The Avengers for Marvel has forced superhero rival DC Entertainment to wake a long sleeping giant.
"The Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall has been working on a new script based on the "Justice League " teaming DC's most famous heroes (Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, among others.) says Variety.
Beall has yet to turn in his script--he's got several other scripts in the works for the studio including the "Logan's Run" remake and the "Lethal Weapon" reboot.
Director George Miller was all set to helm Justice League: Mortal a few years ago starring Armie Hammer, Adam Brody and Megan Gale but the plug was pulled just before shooting began and the pic was scrapped.
The article also mentions that Green Lantern scribe Michael Goldenberg has worked on a script for a "Wonder Woman " flick, however that notion is stuck in development.
Right now Christopher Nolan's Bat-capper The Dark Knight Rises on July 20th and Zack Snyder's big budget reboot Superman: Man of Steel" next year are the only DC Comics flicks ready to go for now, others remain very much stuck in development.
We've been down this road before--I will believe it is gonna happen when cameras start to roll....
