The rights to the Daredevil Movies are leaving 20th Century Fox and going back to Marvel says
Heat Vision. In fact the pact will expire this week.
Fox had been in active development of a new film adaptation when director David Slade departed the "Untitled Daredevil Reboot" film last month.,,This happened when David James Kelly had been hired to re-write that script.
At one point Fringe TV series writer Brad Caleb Kane was at work and said to be adapting the "Born Again" comic book story arc, by writer Frank Miller that sees our hero go insane and destitute at the hands of the villain 'Kingpin', as well as his subsequent struggle to build a new life for himself The great storyline originally appeared from issues #227-233 in 1986.
And then director Joe Carnahan became Fox's top choice to take the helm of the project. Carnahan reportedly won over execs with his "Frank Miller-esque, hardcore 70s thriller" pitch. By then it was too late.
Carnahan tweeted yesterday "Think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids… We shall see. Time is NOT on anyone's side."
Any "Daredevil" film under the Disney banner will likely avoid the darker tone of the comics.
Following requests Carnahan released the "sizzle reel" he created to pitch his '70s superhero thriller take on the property to the studio:
