Is Dave Bautista "Highlander" Redux Baddie?

Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax the Destroyer and WWE superstar Dave Bautista is rumored to have landed the role of the villain in the long gestating remake of the cult classic Highlander says Latino Review.

In "Highlander", after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize

Bautista slated to take on Clancy Brown's role of The Kurgan from the original 1986 film. The Kurgan first encounters Connor MacLeod on the battlefield in 16th century Scotland, where he discovers his foe is also immortal. The two meet again for their final battle in modern-day New York.

Summit Entertainment is said to want leading icon Tom Cruise to play the role Sean Connery did as Macleod's mentor.

The film has yet to cast its male lead.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is set to make his feature directorial debut on the film.

Nicolas-Troyan was a second unit director on "Snow White And The Huntsman" and "Maleficent".  and is also said to be quite knowledgeable of the franchise and its mythology, especially the TV spin-off.  The goal is to deliver a "modern, visceral take" on the iconic characters of the franchise.
