Tom Cruise Is Sean Connery?

Tom Cruise is reportedly being courted to star in the long gestating remake of the cult classic Highlander says The Wrap.

In "Highlander", after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the fabled Prize

Summit Entertainment is said to want Cruise to play the role Sean Connery did as Macleod's mentor.

A representative for Cruise says the project one of many on offer to him and he is "far from talks".

Another insider says Summit is not in negotiations with Cruise, but didn't deny he was the top choice to co-star alongside a still upcast major young star as MacLeod.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is set to make his feature directorial debut on the film.

Nicolas-Troyan was a second unit director on "Snow White And The Huntsman" and "Maleficent".  and is also said to be quite knowledgeable of the franchise and its mythology, especially the TV spin-off.  The goal is to deliver a "modern, visceral take" on the iconic characters of the franchise. He supervised a script polish.

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo left at the end of 2012 after more than a year of work on the project.  Justin Lin was originally due to direct the remake,

Ryan Reynolds was set to star at but is one point

"Iron Man" scribes, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway penned the script which goes back to the original film franchise roots. Melissa Rosenberg reportedly gave the script a polish-- with the latest draft by Noah Oppenheim.
