Blade Runner 2 Gets Ford & Director Villeneuve

ScreenDaily reports that "Prisoners" and "Incendies" director Denis Villeneuve is in negotiations to helm the Blade Runner Sequel.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the film. He recently said the script is the best thing he's ever read.

Original "Blade Runner" co-scribe Hampton Fancher had been at work on the script for new film. Scott Z. Burns was in talks to write the script at one point. Now Green Lantern co-writer Michael Green has been hired to take on the job of  reworking the script

Fancher and David Peoples adapted the script for the 1982 sci-fi classic based upon author Philip K. Dick's story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Original film director  Ridley Scott, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will produce the film. Scott was due to helm the sequel but scheduling was tough with "The Martian" which will take up much of his time this year and then he moves on to Prometheus 2 in late 2015/early 2016

Production on "Runner 2" is slated to begin next Summer.
