Kathy Bates is joining the comedy "Michelle Darnell".
The story follows a titan of industry (Melissa McCarthy) who is sent to prison after she’s
caught for insider trading. When she gets out she is ready to re-brand herself as
America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick
to forgive and forget.
Bates will play the tough, wealthy and eccentric mentor of McCarthy's character according to THR .
Peter Dinklage is set to play the main antagonist of the film. The role itself is gender neutral it would seem with Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Oprah Winfrey all under consideration for the part.
McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone ("Tammy") is directing from a script the pair co-wrote with Steve Mallory.
Falcone, McCarthy, Chris Henchy, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing.
Production begins in March.The film is targeting an April 2016 release.
