Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures plans to remake two European horror films reports Variety.
The first will be "Anguish," remade from the Spanish film of 1987 which was helmed and written by Bigas Luna.
The tale follows two girls who watch a horror film and end up living their own horror in real life which mimics the plot of the film. The other film is a remake of "Kollegiet" (a.k.a. "Room 205), a Danish horror of 2007 which was helmed by Martin Barnewitz and written by Jannik Tai Mosholt-and has a college freshman who, after he moves into a dorm, finds out that her room is haunted.
Jake Wade Wall, who penned the remake of "When A Stranger Calls " and co-wrote "The Hitcher" redo, is doing the screenplay for the "Anguish" remake..
Stephen Susco, writer of "The Grudge" and "The Grudge 2" is adapting "Room 205".
As I have said before ad nausea most remakes--even the foreign kind--and especially in the horror gene suck....
We shall see if these 2 flicks can help reverse the trend...
