David Ayer writer of Training Day, The Fast and the Furious and U-571 is set to adapt the Wired Magazine article "High Tech Cowboys of the Deep Seas: The Race to Save the Cougar Ace" into a thriller for DreamWorks Pictures SKG reports Variety.
The story details how a salvage crew that tries to save a capsized Japanese cargo ship transporting cars into the US.
The real-time action scenario will explore how the crew races to beat the clock and potential drowning to save the ship's dangerous cargo and claim its reward.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci produce the pic.
Ayer knows how to pen a pulse-pounder....
The film would be released through Disney's Touchstone Pictures.
