New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes are already moving ahead with a sequel to the recent remake of "Friday the 13th" as posted on the Risky Biz Blog.
Seen as a follow-up as opposed to a direct sequel (??!! what? Are they not the same thing?), Jason will be the villain with an all new cast of victims lined up.
Remake writers, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift started work on the script.
The last film used elements from the first four films in the original franchise, whereas this won't be doing any such homages to the other four sequels in the original series.
Marcus Nispel could return to the director's chair, but since he's looking elsewhere for work most likely someone else will be hired to direct.
Surviving cast members Amanda Righetti and Jared Padalecki's involvement is also up in the air because of their respective TV gigs
Both studios are hard at work on their planned reboot of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street.
