Curtis Hanson is in line to direct the action thriller "Gemini Man" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a NSA operative who tries to retire and is targeted for death. He discovers that his assassin is a younger cloned version of himself.
The hook with the project is that a veteran actor will be cast as the agent with his younger likeness digitally grafted onto a stunt man's body as the younger clone.
Mega man Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Murphy will co-produce the film which has been in development for 10 years plus in Hollywood. David Benioff wrote the most recent draft of the script which was originated by Darren Lemke and rewritten by various scribes over the years including Jonathan Hensleigh (Armageddon).
A couple of films spring to mind her and they are both not all that great Jet Li in The One (minus the older man angle) and The 6th Day.... Why not cast The young and then alter him to age rather than the other way around?
Hanson's not known as a sci-fi guy and at first blush seems an odd fit.
