Alternate Island

A rival film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel "Treasure Island" is currently in the pipeline reports Pajiba.

Producer Lionel Wigram ("Sherlock Holmes") is overseeing the Warner Bros.film which is in direct competition with Ecosse filmscurrently in development on their own adaptation fron screenwriter Niall Johnson ("White Noise")

Johnson is still at work on his script, but Michael Gilio's script for the Warners version was completed a month ago.

Wigram has a history of getting projects he produces made first - Guy Ritchie's 'Holmes' easily beat a rival pic with Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Wigram is also producing a Doug Liman-directed "Three Musketeers" production which is moving along faster than a rival 'Musketeers' project Paul W.S. Anderson is doing.
