Lasse Hallstrom will replace Bill Condon in the big chair for the film adaptation of Paul Torday's novel Salmon Fishing in the Yemen says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story is about a slightly pompous middle-aged scientist working at London's National Centre for Fisheries Excellence. A mysterious sheikh offers him a job to introduce the sport of salmon fishing into the Yemen.
He initially refuses to help, but is ultimately pressured into working on the project which becomes a hot political potato.
Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas are set to star in the pic
Simon Beaufoy ("Slumdog Millionaire") adapts the screenplay
Condon left the project, likely due to his commitment to helm The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
