Stiller's Secret Life

Ben Stiller is in talks to play the starring role in the long-gestating remake of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" says Deadline.

Writer Steve Conrad ("The Pursuit of Happyness") has come onboard with a new approach--ditching previous drafts--Stiller sparked to it and wants to make this his next film.

The studio will now move quickly to lock down a director with the aim to produce a PG-rated action family film that will start shooting in the late Fall.

Based on the 1947 Danny Kaye film which itself was based on a 1939 James Thurber short story, 'Mitty' follows a quintessential daydreamer whose vivid imagination allows him to escape from the mundane constraints of his ordinary life.

Folks like The likes of Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen have all been linked to the lead role with various filmmakers like Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, Mark Waters, Chuck Russell and Gore Verbinski involved at some point as well

However Conrad's spin on the tale has everyone at the studio pretty excited. We shall see...
