A few weeks ago Mike Tyson's tattoo artist,Victor Whitmill filed an injunction to stop the Friday debut of the The Hangover Part II because of a copyright infringement and unauthorised use of a tattoo he designed which appears on the face of Ed Helms' Stu character throughout the movie.
A federal judge has ruled that the film can be released as planned says The Hollywood Reporter.
U.S. District Court Judge Catherine D. Perry dropped the injunction, saying stopping the movie's release would put too much of a hardship on the studio and thousands of theater owners.
She added though that Whitmill has a strong chance of succeeding in his lawsuit, which means the studio will most likely have to pay up a considerable amount of coin either in a settlement or eventual trial.
How much the potential payout could be is not known Whitmill was said to be seeking $30 million in damages, but with the injunction set aside he'll likely only get a fraction of that amount.
