Rivaling Frankenstein Projects in the Works

Deadline Hollywood relays that David Auburn, who wrote the play Proof, will adapt a script derived from The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein by Peter Ackroyd for RT Features. It’s something of an origin story, as it focuses on Frankenstein’s early days of corpse experimentation.

Universal’s also developing a project that centers on Frankenstein. Kenneth Oppel’s novel This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein serves as the inspiration; the film sets the story in modern times. There’s also Wake the Dead from Scout Productions that pulls from Steve Niles’s graphic novel.
