Sweeney Sequel Already In The Works

Screen Daily reports that director Nick Love is already in negotiations for a sequel to the recently wrapped big screen version of the 70's Brit series The Sweeney.


John Thaw and Dennis Waterman starred in the original series as Jack Regan and George Carter, members of a London police unit dedicated to fighting violent crime.

Ray Winstone and rap act Plan B AKA Ben Drew (pictured) filled the lead roles in the film with Hayley Atwell and Damian Lewis playing supporting roles in the contemporary-set adaptation.

Love who also co-wrote the first script with John Hodge (Trainspotting) is said to be in talks with Winstone and Drew to make another pic This could even be a prequel story explaing how Regan and Carter met. 

The first film will hit U.K. theaters in September.
