Trek 2: Mission Launches May 2013 In 3-D

The as yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel will open on May 17th 2013 says THR

May 2013 will be a busy month for Summer blockbusters, with "Iron Man 3" set to bow on May 3, Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" invading on May 10 and "Fast and the Furious 6" set to rev up for Memorial Day weekend on May 24. The studio nabbed the May 17 slot for Trek after Roland Emmerich's "Singularity" was pushed back to November.

The studio had originally planned a release date of June 29, 2012, but Abrams' commitment to "Super 8" kept him from being able to deliver the sequel that soon.

Writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof wrote the script

J.J. Abrams has already scouted both a Hawaiian jungle location and a Los Angeles museum for scenes in the movie.

Production is looking to get underway on January 15th. The sequel will be shot using 3-D...Ugh!
