Rather than move forward with Green Lantern 2 Variety says that Warner Bros is considering whether it will push the reset button.
Until now the thought was that they would be expanding on a sequel outline by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim which would either be significantly changed or scrapped for the sequel
At this point the studio is "figuring out whether to bring back Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern in a sequel to last year's actioner or relaunch the character in a completely new way."
A reboot with Ryan still in the role? While I was one of only handful of viewers it seems who liked the previous film--and Reynolds as GL--that just seems dumb. If the idea is to bring something new to the table then do it. If you follow that logic and Ryan stays, then Brandon Routh should be doing Zack Snyder's big budget reboot Superman: Man of Steel following Superman Returns...instead of Henry Cavill...Right?? Of course not
Last week DC Entertainment made news by announcing that "The Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall has been working on a new script based on the "Justice League " teaming DC's most famous heroes (Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, among others) and that Goldenberg has been working on a script for a "Wonder Woman" flick.
You could always restart by introducing another GL from Earth like John Stewart or Guy Gardner
