Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson are set to reprie their roles as Specs and Tucker in the upcoming sequel "Insidious Chapter Two" says Horror Movies.
Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins and Barbara Hershey will also reprise their roles in the film which James Wan, who directed Insidious, will call action from a script written by Whannell who also wrote the first film.
The original revolved around a young boy, who has become possessed by an evil spirit. The sequel will reportedly have flashbacks of various characters in the film that lead up to the events in the first installment.
Made for just $1.5 million, the film went on to bring in over $150 million worldwide.
Jason Blum will return to produce.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Oren Peli , Steven Schneider, and Charles Layton are executive producing.
Production on the sequel is set to begin on January 15, 2013, in Los Angeles to meet an August 30th, 2013 release date.
Just watched the first film recently for the first time and enjoyed it a lot. Here's hoping they take care not to run the story premise into the ground like Saw and Paranormal Activity
Wan will now have two horror films opening in the summer (The Conjuring hits July 19th).
