The story centers on a woman (Natalie Portman) who must defend her farm when her outlaw husband returns home after a gunfight at death's door. With his gang coming to kill them, she seeks the help of an ex-lover (Michael Fassbender ) to defend themselves.
Edgerton will play John Bishop, the leader of the gang of villains.
Brian Duffield wrote the script which forced a bidding war at the Cannes Film Festival and also made last year's annual Black List of best unproduced screenplays.

'Jane' hopes to begin shooting by early next year.
