A year-and-a-half ago producer Megan Ellison's Annapura Pictures had won the film rights to the Terminator franchise. Director Justin Lin is still due to helm Terminator 5 with Arnold Schwarzenegger set to star.
Ellison has closed the complicated rights deal with Pacificor. She's also enlisted the help of her brother, David Ellison, as her financial and creative partner on the film according to Deadline.
While she runs Annapura, he runs Skydance Productions. No studio is yet attached to any future "Terminator" films, not even Paramount where Skydance has deals in place, but any new movies will now be a co-production between Annapurna and Skydance.
They are also starting over on the project and are currently looking for a new screenwriter. The clock is ticking for them though since the rights revert back to creator James Cameron in 2019.
