Nobody Gets Out Alive director Jason Christopher returns and talks about the Christmas time set actioner Die Hard as his special series continues....
The first Die Hard is is the film that put Bruce Willis on the movie map. A studio executive took the risk and used Willis, in a big budget action flick. Willis was on TV shows at that point but he wasn’t standing out. They threw Willis in this movie and boom, now Bruce Willis is known as one of the most badass action heroes of all time.
John McCalne (Willis), officer of the NYPD, tries to save his wife, Holly and several others, taken hostage by German terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.
This movie is just awesome. Although, does the driver, Argyle come off as if he’s blind to anyone else? Man, this movie even has Carl Winslow in it! If they made that movie today, he’d be screwed because there’s no more Twinkies!
Anyway, the movie is loaded with fun. The movie wound up spawning sequels. The second was fun, and for a while the was my favorite. Then they made a third one, Die Hard: With A Vengeance. That one was my favorite when I was a kid. The latest in the series was Live Free or Die Hard – which was okay, just weird that McClane was hanging on a air plane wing fighting people. That was a little…odd, but I still enjoyed it. I’ll even enjoy the new one that comes out next year, mainly because I just enjoy the McClane character.
I swear I’ll be talking about some real Christmas style movies soon. But for now…I have a machine gun. Ho, ho, ho!
