Jack Reacher Sequel No Longer In Reach?

Unless it does "exceptional" business in several key territories where it has yet to open Paramount Pictures will not be moving ahead with a sequel to the Tom Cruise actioner "Jack Reacher" says THR.

The $60 million dollar adaptation of author  Lee Child's Jack Reacher  book "One Shot" has earned $152 million worldwide so far ($72M US , $80M foreign). Sources at the studio say the film has to gross $250 million worldwide before the studio would consider doing another.

The goal seems unlikely since the domestic run of the film will soon end, meaning it would have to double its foreign take when it hits key markets like China and Japan in February.

The reviews for 'Reacher' were solid, but not spectacular, and unfortunately the film has been overshadowed by  glut of higher profile holiday crowd pleasers with awards buzz released around the same time last month.
