Eric Balfour (pictured) and James Van Der Beek will be joining seasoned pros Joe Mantegna, and Armand Assante in the indie feature "The Fifth Mafia" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Vito Giambalvo is directing the crime drama, from a script by Miles Robinson, Paul Olsen and Philip M. Olsen.
The film will follow the son (Balfour) of a murdered Mafioso.
Balfour's character never had any involvement in the family business (shades Michael Corleone-Al Pacino in The Godfather!!) and seeks revenge on his corrupt Uncle Dominic (Assante) for the murder of his parents.
Soon, he finds himself battling with the FBI after he ruins the life of one of the bureau's agents (Van Der Beek).
Mantegna is set to play Mario, a member of the Dominic Lucido crime family.
Frankly-I'm more interested in FBI angle of the story than I am seeing another straight Mob tale...
Production is to begin at the end of March.
