Actor Rupert Friend hasn't really had much of a film career. In fact, he's perhaps more well known as boyfriend to Keira Knightley (both pictured) than any work that he's done on screen....All of that is likely to change according to The Hollywood Reporter:

He has signed on to play opposite Michelle Pfeiffer in the Stephen Frears period romance drama Cheri

In what could be a break role for Friend, he plays a young man named Cheri, sent by his mother (Kathy Bates ), a well-respected courtesan in 1920s France, to be taught the ways of women by her fellow courtesan Lea de Lonval (Pfeiffer). Soon the novice finds himself falling in love with his teacher...The pair begin a six-year affair that comes to a bitter end when Cheri has to marry a wealthy young woman.

Frears & Pfeiffer worked together on Dangerous Liaisons 20 years ago--Ironically enough, another period drama with a love triangle at its center...
