Taking a page from Christian Bale's playbook, the Star Trek re-boot's younger Chekov, Anton Yelchin (pictured) is taking on a 2nd popular film franchise. Ironically enough his next feature is even co starring BaleYelchin is in negotiations to star as the post-apocalyptic warrior Kyle Reese as a teen in the upcoming "Terminator 4 " flick as posted by The Hollywood Reporter.
The character played by Michael Biehn as seen in 1984 original who traveled back in time to save Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from being killed by the The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger).
Reese ends up fathering her son John who goes on to lead humanity against Skynet's machines and who sends Reese back in time on the mission in the first place.
Production on T4 is set to start this May for a release next May on the 22nd. Yelchin will be competing against himself at the cineplex at that time...Trek opens two weeks earlier on May 8th 2009.
