Director's Choice

-Director David Fincher is moving forward with plans for an animated anthology feature film based on the 70s sci-fi fantasy Mag "Heavy Metal", according to Variety.

The R-rated, adult-themed film will consist of eight or nine individual animated segments, each of which will be directed by a different director.

Fincher will direct one of the segments, Kevin Eastman and Tim Miller will each helm a segment while all three will produce the flick.

2 animated features based on the publication were already released before in 1981 and again in 2000.

The periodical is noted for blending dark fantasy/science fiction and erotica with high-quality artwork by acclaimed artists and writers.

The previous efforts of big screen "Metal" have their admires for sure--But with Fincher spearheading the new version...I'm sure-even more folks will want to check it out than ever before..

-Meantime, Wolfgang Petersen has signed on to direct the sci-fi thriller "Uprising" for Sony as reported in Variety.

It tells the story of what happens after Earth is taken over by a powerful alien race...As a band of humans form a resistance movement in an effort to take back our world.

Charles Leavitt ("Blood Diamond") penned the script.

I'm pulling for Petersen on this one--After the waterlogged disaster that was the Poseidon-The director, known for his action movies, needs a hit and certainly deserves better.
