Disney and hit producer Jerry Bruckheimer (pictured) acquired the screen rights to Steven Pressfield's novel "Killing Rommel" reports Variety.
The story focuses on the British Long Range Desert Group and its attempt to stop German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. Called the 'Desert Fox', Rommel routed the British in the North African desert in 1942 and threatened to overrun the Middle East thanks to his battlefield strategies and Panzer tanks.
Randall Wallace will write the script with the author-while remaining attached to direct a Mike Rich-scripted drama about the history-winning racehorse Secretariat.
Wallace sure knows a thing or two about writing flicks with epic war battles-Pearl Harbor-Braveheart-We Were Soldiers...
