Coming Soon reports exclusively that Shia LaBeouf and director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) are teaming to bring the 2002 novel, The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn, before the cameras this winter.
The near future premise revolves around a drug called MDT-48 can make your brain function at a more efficient pace.. Eddie Spinola's addicted to it, and when his dealer gets shot-he's left with a large stash of it...
Leslie Dixon is writing the script and Burger says that despite the slightly sci-fi premise, this won't be handled in a sci-fi way. It will be shot in New York.
LaBeouf's been attached to this project since April
This sounds like it could really be a great paring of actor to director...At first blush you wouldn't see them working with one another...But I am curious.
